Life in Alicante

Alicante is an ideal city in which to study.  It is a Mediterranean city which combines classic with modern, leisure with business, fun with work and study, and even beaches with mountains, all in the same urban setting.  It also has the only inhabited island in the community of Valencia, the island of Tabarca.

With a population of nearly 370,000 inhabitants, Alicante is the capital city of the province and one of the most important urban areas on the Costa Blanca of Spain.  Tourism is one of the principal pillars of an economy in which tourists enjoy the region’s people, monuments, splendid beaches, cultural events, numerous festivals and a pleasant climate throughout the year.

The province of Alicante has a strong economy, ranking as Spain’s forth largest province in terms of both gross domestic product and population.  The province has outstanding universities, excellent communications, every class of economic and business services, and a consolidated tradition of hosting conventions, fairs, and a wide variety of business meetings.

The pleasant climate stimulates a festive and animated nightlife throughout the entire year.  Bars, cafes and nightclubs abound whatever you go in Alicante.  Among the most popular nightlife areas is El Barrio, situated in the oldest section of the city and La Zona, La Ruta de la Madera, and The Port in the center of the city.  During the summer, nightlife shifts to the Playa de San Juan, on the coast, the perfect place to enjoy the Mediterranean atmostphere.

Fundesem is located in the residential and touristic neighborhood of La Albufereta, near the Playa de San Juan.  The neighborhood is lovely, with facilities and amenities which will make your studies in Spain an enjoyable and enriching experience.
